The 2026 Jean Monnet Prize awarded to Georgi Gospodinov!

The acclaimed Bulgarian author has won the 32nd Jean Monnet European Literature Prize for his book The Gardener and Death, an honor that celebrates his body of work as a whole.

Returning after the International Booker-winning Time Shelter, Gospodinov delivers a deeply personal, luminous text about memory, loss, and the bond between father and son.

The book continues to be warmly embraced and read by the Greek reading public, already reaching its 6th printing!

The award ceremony will take place on November 21 at the European Literatures Festival in Cognac.
