-
Willy had a deer. He hadn’t always had it. The deer had come to him a short while ago. It had crossed Willy’s mind that, just because it had come to him, didn’t mean it was his. Nevertheless, he thought of naming the deer Marcel. Most of the time, Marcel was very obedient and seemed to follow the ‘Rules of Good Behaviour for a Pet’ almost to the letter. But imagine Willie’s surprise when, one day, whilst they were deep in the forest, someone told him that Marcel had another name and that he belonged to them! Who does Marcel actually belong to (if his name is just Marcel)? A beautifully illustrated story by the much-loved author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers, which will make us wonder whether, in the end, there is anything in the world that truly belongs to us. Is there?...

"...A wonderful book about genuine respect for untamed nature, but also for the needs of every creature. A text with hidden messages about friendship, freedom and selfishness, and unique illustrations that oscillate between the masterful brushstrokes of an experienced artist and the childlike figures of a 7-year-old boy..."
