Fivos Piombino’s selection of poems by Giuseppe Ungaretti was published in 1990 as a private edition and was nominated for the European Prize for Literary Translation.
This edition, which is bilingual, revised and expanded, also includes eleven poems published in 1996 in a collaborative translation with Paola Maria Minucci, as well as twenty unpublished translations. This anthology provides a highly representative overview of Giuseppe Ungaretti’s work, as it includes selections from almost all his poetry collections.
It is followed by notes by the poet himself and a detailed chronology of his life and work, along with the international events that influenced him.
