Skylights

-ATHENS ACADEMY POETRY PRIZE 2023
-Shortlisted for the State Poetry Prize 2023
We need skylights when light from outside needs to come in. And somehow, somehow, pull us out of the darkness. Or even bathe us in twilight. But skylights aren’t just those familiar little windows, often with strange shapes cast upon the walls. Skylights are anything through which we might think we see something else. An old piece of paper, a sound, a hesitation, a bend in the road. All these things, when faced with various questions, can lead us astray. And they can put definitive answers in a difficult position. With this clarification, I would like to say that my poems are not separate from my other books, which I wrote for the University. And in them, I tried to avoid the absolute and the obvious.
