"...The book *A Yellow Leaf* managed, through such a simple, everyday, ordinary story—like a leaf falling from a tree—to capture the true meaning of life. To speak to children and to us about decay and rebirth. And truly to fill our hearts with a whole host of emotions."
– Marilena Pappa, Rubicube.gr"...This is an extremely tender and symbolic story that will undoubtedly move every reader who picks it up. A warm and peaceful story, bright and, above all, true. True within its symbolism."
– Georgia Souvatzis, Debop"...A sensitive, true, tender, philosophical and very carefully crafted text. A yellow leaf, one of the thousands that fall, exist and scatter everywhere every autumn, winter or even in spring. A yellow leaf which, at the moment of its final flight, its final journey and at the same time its first, sees the world through different eyes."
– Eleni Betinaki, Saturday’s Fairy Tales"A Yellow Leaf is a fairy tale about life, growth, rebirth, relationships, balance, friendship, different perspectives, truth... It is a story full of symbolism, gentle and so true that it is sure to move you. The journey of the yellow leaf offers a perspective on a changing world, a world you can see through different eyes and with different approaches."
– Magda Zindrou, Every Day Parents"...A very tender and symbolic story that will move young and old alike, written simply, a story about the cycle of life, evolution, rebirth, death and what comes after. An opportunity to talk to children about how important the moments we experience are. Moments that may have gone unnoticed by us but which, to someone else with a different perspective, were very significant. Moments with our friends and our loved ones."
– Angeliki Boziki, Dimart Blog"...It moved me because it describes the cycle of life so simply and romantically... How simple our lives are, after all, I thought..."
– Maria Liontou, Mommy Jammi"...Mature, existential, tender. _A Yellow Leaf_, perhaps the most talked-about children’s book of the year, has won over the parents of the young readers for whom it was originally intended."
– Galatea Laskaraki, Marie Claire"...The symbolism is rich and open to many interpretations, providing food for thought for numerous and interesting discussions. But beyond the story and the words, what completes the book and makes it so special is the illustration by Filippos Fotiadis, who once again surprises us in a positive way. Using the techniques architects employ to create models, as well as vertical page layout, Fotiadis creates an almost realistic setting in which Michalis Moulakis’s story unfolds."
– Zoe Koskinidou, Red Fox"A tree in autumn shows you that it is good to let go of whatever has come to an end," I read somewhere. And that is exactly what I thought when I read the book _A Yellow Leaf_.
– Children’s Books Blog"...An exceptional approach and simplicity, to address the quintessentially difficult subject of the end of life and the afterlife. The illustrations, equally understated, blend uniquely with the text, coexisting in perfect harmony with it."
– Kostas Stoforos, Literature.gr"...Michalis Moulakis has chosen to teach children all these important things through the journey of a single yellow leaf. Because, through this brief journey of the leaf, we learn perhaps the most important and undeniable truth of our lives. From birth, through the course of development, to the end, and even the return to the place of birth."
– Eleni Vlachou, Bright Side of Mom"...Without forcing emotions, without even cleverly hinting at them, with the lyricism of simplicity rather than ostentation, with the genuine realism of life as reality rather than as a script, The Yellow Leaf is one of the most beautiful, philosophical books for children and older readers who love beauty and truth in concise forms."
– Apostolos Pappos, Elniplex.com"...The allegorical fairy tale _A Yellow Leaf_ speaks of the self-evident. The poetic text by Michalis Moulakis (in his first children’s book) and the simple yet inventive illustrations by Filippos Fotiadis, combined with the playful and unusual page layout, will convey to children the sense of the unexpected experienced by the little leaf when it suddenly falls from its branch. Encounters, unexpected discoveries, friendships and alliances, different perspectives and multifaceted truths come together to form a fairy tale that inspires hope and optimism."
– Eleni Korovila, Bookpress.gr"...Through such an ordinary event—a leaf falling from a tree—the author helps our children understand that the cycle of life for all things is not random! Everything has a purpose! It is born for a specific reason and its nature will never change. It is an allegorical fairy tale adorned with the simple and romantic illustrations of Filippos Fotiadis."
– Mama's 'n' Papa's Blog"Michalis Moulakis’s *A Yellow Leaf*, now available, is a special story that conveys different messages for every age group. From the simple life cycle of an ordinary autumn leaf to the fact that every ending can also be a new beginning..."
– Two Boys and Hope Blog"...When I was a child, I felt sorry for the falling leaves because they turned black and rotted. Even now, I feel a pang every time I come across blackened leaves. The story of the yellow leaf, with its distinctive illustrations, made me see yellow leaves in a different light."
– The magical world of children’s booksMichalis Moulakis
Michalis Moulakis was born in 1972 in Athens, where he lives and works. He studied political communication in the United States and the United Kingdom. The idea for A Yellow Leaf came one Sunday morning, from a phrase his eldest son uttered when he was three years old. He grabbed a pencil and paper and immediately began writing the story. Some time later, he asked his friend Filippos Fotiadis to illustrate it. A Yellow Leaf is his first book.
