Manuscripts from the archive of Alexandros Isaris

-
The volume contains an early version of the short story ‘The Brother’, two letters by Giorgos Cheimonas and two texts on the painting of Alexandros Isaris. One of these, entitled ‘Saint George’, formed the basis for Cheimonas’s work ‘The Wedding’. The manuscripts have been printed almost life-size on the left-hand pages, with the corresponding text on the opposite page, featuring the author’s corrections, additions and deletions in a faithful, typographical reproduction. In his extensive afterword, Evripidis Garantoudis analyses, describes and comments on each manuscript separately, having first referred to the course of the friendship between the two creators. He also compares the draft of ‘The Brother’ with the final text, which is published in its entirety. The book also includes an interview with Cheimonas and a short story by him. The publication is illustrated with five colour plates by the well-known painter, poet and translator Alexandros Isaris.
