Vasilis Papadopoulos
AuthorAmbassador Vasilis Papadopoulos was born in Athens. He graduated from the Athens Law School and completed postgraduate studies in International and European Law in France.
In 1985, he was appointed as a diplomatic attaché in the diplomatic service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving, in addition to the Central Service, in San Francisco, Kiev, New York (UN) and Bangkok. He served as ambassador in Kyiv, Bucharest and Lisbon, whilst for three years he served as Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic.
For a number of years, he has been teaching practical diplomacy and culture at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has given a series of lectures at universities and diplomatic academies in various countries on topics of foreign policy, culture and language.
He has authored a novella, short stories and essays, including Diplomacy and Poetry. The Case of George Seferis (Ikaros, 2019) and The Irresistible Tendency of Greeks to Write Poetry (Ikaros, 2024).
