Andrea Bajani

Andrea Bajani was born in Rome in 1975. He is a writer, poet and professor of creative writing at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He writes regularly for major Italian and American newspapers. He made his debut in Italian literature in 2002. He has written thirteen novels, three essays and three collections of poetry. He established himself in the literary world with his novel Se consideri le colpe (2007), which won the Super Mondello, Brancati, Recanati and Lo Straniero prizes, whilst in 2010 his novel Ogni promessa won the Bagutta Prize. In 2021, his widely translated novel *Il libro delle case* was shortlisted for the Strega and Campiello prizes. The anniversary edition was honoured with the 2025 Strega Prize, Italy’s most prestigious literary award, and is set to be published in more than 30 countries.
