Markos Meskos

Markos Meskos was born in Edessa. His parents were from the villages of Grammatikovo and Katrantsa. He spent his childhood and school years in his hometown. In the 1960s, his family moved to Athens, where his father opened a small shop and Markos studied at the Department of Graphic Arts at the Doxiadis School.

He worked as a graphic designer in advertising agencies and as a freelancer. From 1980, he lived in Edessa for two years and, until 1993, worked as a publications manager at the Agricultural Cooperative Publications in Thessaloniki. His poems have been published in various literary magazines. In 1995, he was awarded the poetry prize by the magazine Diavazo for his collection Greetings.
