On the ‘meaning’ of politics

-
What is the ‘meaning’ of political art and science? The original ‘common endeavour’ of democracy, or the modern profession of authoritarian balancing of individualistic ‘rights’? Is the sociocentric way of the Greeks (polis, ecclesia, self-governing community, the existential goal of freedom) a lost cause? Is there only one path: barbaric legalism, the totalitarianism of propaganda, uninspired self-preserving well-being, the hallucinogens of ‘individual salvation’?
