Donatella Di Pietrantonio

Donatella Di Pietrantonio was born in 1963 in Arsita, a mountain village in the Abruzzo region, and now lives in the town of Penne, where she works as a paediatric dentist. She made her debut as an author with the novel My Mother Is a River (2011, Tropea Prize). Her second book, My Beautiful One (2014, Brancati Prize), was shortlisted for the Strega Prize. In 2017, her novel *Arminuta* was hailed as a publishing sensation, and in the same year she was awarded one of Italy’s most prestigious literary prizes, the Premio Campiello, as well as the Premio Napoli.A common thread running through all three of Di Pietrantonio’s books is her birthplace, Abruzzo.
