Gianfranco Calligarich
AuthorGianfranco Calligarich was born in Asmara, Eritrea, to a cosmopolitan family originally from Trieste. He grew up in Milan
and later moved to Rome, where he worked as a journalist and screenwriter. Many successful Rai programmes bear his signature. In 1994, he founded the Teatro XX Secolo in Rome. His novels include *The Melancholy of the Krusits* (Premio Viareggio 2017), *Four Men on the Run* (2018), *A Life on the Edge* (2021) and *Walks with the Dogs* (2023). His first novel, The Last Summer in Rome (1973), a publishing sensation in its day, has been translated into more than 20 languages. It was published in Greek in 2022 and was much loved by readers.
