Kaveh Akbar

Kaveh Akbar was born in Tehran, Iran, grew up in America and teaches at the University of Iowa. He has published two collections of poetry (Pilgrim Bell and Calling a Wolf a Wolf) as well as a short work entitled Portrait of the Alcoholic. He has also edited the anthology The Penguin Book of Spiritual Verse: 110 Poets on the Divine. His poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Best American Poetry and elsewhere. Martys! is his first novel.
