The horse of dreams
The horse arrived in the storm, just when Merin really needed it. Perhaps she herself had wished to meet it. After her father’s death, Merin’s family falls apart. As her mother sinks deeper and deeper into silence, Lowen is constantly angry, Tresa has lost her enthusiasm, and Merin is in despair. She escapes to the forest, where its tranquillity and beauty slowly heal her wounds. One day, Merin meets Sorel, a dreamlike creature, a beautiful horse, as if born of the forest and the sea. Sorel becomes her loyal friend, showing her how to love life, to laugh again, and perhaps to heal her family from the burden of loss. A moving, hopeful and poetic novel by the new author and illustrator Holly Sherplis, which brings together all the elements of a modern classic. A moving story about friendship, family and healing.
