Nikos Politis

Nikos Politis was born in Athens in 1918. He was the son of the director and critic Fotos Politis and Ioulia Chrysi. On his father's side, he came from a family with a distinguished intellectual history, being the grandson of Nikolaos Politis, a folklorist and academic, and the nephew of Linos Politis, a leading philologist and academic. He served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine Elefthera Grammata (1945–1947) and was a columnist for the newspaper I Kathimerini (from 1975). He published many poetry collections as well as prose works. He was honored with the Second State Prize for Prose for his novel Exoterikos Monologos (External Monologue) (Ikaros, 1965). He passed away in 1995.
