Author

Andreas Belezinis (1929–2011) was born in Patras. He grew up in the neighbourhood of Agios Andreas and in Aroi (Halili). He completed the then eight-year secondary school at the Middle School and the final two years at the 4th Boys’ School of Patras. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy in Athens (Department of Philology), the D.M.E., and undertook postgraduate studies in history for a short period. He taught at a private tuition centre and for five years in the state school system. He resigned in 1966, settled in Athens and returned to teaching at private tuition centres. A ‘promoter of poetry’, he spoke at length, wrote less and published very little. He published and co-edited the magazines “Ostrako” (in Patras, three issues) and “Spira” (in Athens, in three periods). He was a founding member of the Poetry Symposium and its honorary president. He died in Athens in January 2011.
