Kopano Matlwa
AuthorKopano Matlwa Mabaso is a writer from South Africa. Her first book, *Coconut*, was published when she was just twenty-one years old and was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature (2006) as well as the Wole Soyinka Prize for African Literature (2010).
Her second novel, Split Milk, was longlisted for the Sunday Times Fiction Prize. A doctor herself, she was selected for the 21 Icons Project, which recognises innovative young people in South Africa, and in 2015 she was honoured with the Aspen Prize for Medical Innovation.
She is currently working on her PhD in Population Health at the University of Oxford.
