G.E. Georgousis

Giorgos E. Georgousis was born in Athens in 1940. He studied medicine, specializing in Cardiology. He worked for many years at the Cardiology Clinic of the Sismanogleio Hospital. He focused primarily on poetry and translation. He made his literary debut in 1966 with the poetry collection Nyctilyke. He published many other collections, including: Returns(Ikaros, 1984), Diaries of Absence (Ikaros, 1987), The Chronicles of Gardens (Ikaros, 2001), among others. He translated: Federico García Lorca, Lament for Ignacio Sánchez Mejías (Diatton, 2002); Federico García Lorca, Duende (Instituto Cervantes, 2003); and Euripides, The Bacchae (Gavrielides, 2009). He passed away in 2017.
