Euripides Garantoudis

Euripides Garantoudis was born in 1964 in Kavala. He studied Modern Greek Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Thessaloniki. From 1986 to 1989, he taught Modern Greek language and literature at the Institute of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Padua. From 1995 to 2003, he taught Modern Greek literature at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Crete (as an assistant professor in 1999). He also served as a researcher at the Institute of Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology, working on a history of Modern Greek metre.

He currently teaches Modern Greek literature in the Department of Philology at the University of Athens, holding the rank of associate professor. He has published the following books: "Ancient and Modern Greek Metrics. A Historical Diagram of a Misunderstanding", Padua 1989, "Polytropic Harmony. The Metrics and Poetics of Kalvos", Heraklion, University of Crete Press - House of Fine Arts and Letters 1995, and "Anthology of Modern Greek Poetry 1980–1997. Moments of Nostalgia", Athens, Nefeli Publications 1998. He edited the books: "Gerasimos Spatalas, The Art of Verse. Studies in Modern Greek Metrics", Heraklion, University of Crete Press 1997 (in collaboration with Anna Katsigianni) and "Takis Sinopoulos, Chronicle of Readings. Book Reviews on Post-War Poetry", Athens, Sokolis 1999 (in collaboration with Dora Menti). His book reviews and studies on topics in Modern Greek literature have been published in journals and newspapers.
