Drew Daywalt

Author

The author and director Drew Daywalt has been creating fantasy stories and building his own worlds of escape since his childhood. Having studied Creative Writing with a specialisation in Children’s Literature at Emerson College in Boston, he headed to Hollywood, where he worked as a writer for Disney and Universal on beloved series such as Timon & Pumbaa, Buzz Lightyear and Woody Woodpecker. Meanwhile, his animated series The Wacky World of Tex Avery was nominated for an Emmy Award. His initial involvement in cinema led him to write screenplays and direct feature films. He has collaborated with major Hollywood figures such as Quentin Tarantino, Lawrence Bender, Tony Scott, Brett Ratner and Jerry Bruckheimer. Turning his attention to writing illustrated books, his first work, The Day the Crayons Quit, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers, made its debut on the New York Times bestseller list in June 2013 and has since risen to the top, claiming the number one spot.
